- 2008 Directory Of Services
The Auxiliary Directory of Services has been updated for 2008 and placed in the Boating Department Documents Library. Minor changes include updating some annual statistics. A major change was updating the Public Education course offerings. The Directory of Services of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is a guide for the reader (usually outside organizations, partners and units of the USCG) to become acquainted with the capabilities of the USCG Auxiliary and its members.

- Auxiliary Band Entertains Hospitalized Veterans
The US Coast Guard Auxiliary Band from Flotilla 22-7 of Fort Salonga , NY , kicked off a week-long National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans at the Northport (NY) Veteran’s Administration Hospital . - Seamanship & Safety Book Available On-Line
RBS partner, Soundings Magazine has published an on-line, 81-page booklet entitled Seamanship and Safety as a free special edition for USCG Auxiliary members. Photos compliment the chapters on Coastal Cruising, Elements of Seamanship, Situational Awareness, Rough-water Boat Handling, Seaworthiness, plus 14 more subjects. Access the free Auxiliary edition by going to ShopAuxiliary.com, click on Members Only and log in using your member number and AuxEdirectory password. Then click on the Soundings logo. - National Search and Rescue Competition (NSAR)
A new website with details for the first annual NSAR competition in Cape May is coming soon. The competition will be fierce so start training now. Note: All DCO's please confirm no later than May 1, 2008 if your district will be sending a team to Cape May to compete in the first NSAR. - Porpoise Rescue Mission
Hat's off to Flotilla 59, D5-SR Auxiliary pilots for their second porpoise rescue mission. They received a request to fly an injured porpoise from Virginia to New York. Read about this unusual mission, now on SITREP, the Auxiliary’s National e-magazine.

- First Issue Of The New eBeacon Available
The Beacon publication is now an electronic publication. We hope to expand the publication with more informational articles and links for other Auxiliary news as we move forward. Our desire is to electronically publish an issue bi-monthly. Our goal is to provide to you as members of the Association and the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary information that keeps you informed on what is happening. We will also endeavor to provide the latest information on member benefits as well as highlight various items available to you through your District Stores.

- New Member Training Value-Added Article: Chain of Leadership
The value-added article Chain of Leadership has been added to the National Training Department website. The article provides guidance on how to communicate up and down the chain of leadership within the Auxiliary organization to resolve an issue or problem. On the left side of the home page select "Value-Added Training". The article will be listed along with many other useful articles.
