- “Rhythm And Booms” Is A Backdrop To Rescue
“Rhythm and Booms” is a Madison, Wisconsin fireworks tradition and it is the largest fireworks display timed to music in the Midwest. The Auxiliary takes an active role in ensuring the public’s enjoyment every year by providing safety patrols. As the display was ending the patrol was called to assist a youngster in medical distress. Read how this event played out, now on SITREP, the Auxiliary’s National e-magazine.

- Going Strong After 50 Years
Auxiliarist Swenson of New Jersey celebrated 50 years of service to the Auxiliary. His activities have not diminished over the years. He was honored at a recent ceremony, now on SITREP, the Auxiliary’s National e-magazine.

- Wallop-Breaux Trust Fund
Ever wonder what the Wallop-Breaux Trust Fund is all about? The fund is alive and well under a new name, the Sport Fishing Restoration & Boating Trust Fund. A PowerPoint presentation about the fund (complete with presenter notes) is now available from the Boating Department website under State Liaison Officer Documents. Use it for self-education or to present to others.

- 2008 VE And PV Workshops Released
The US Coast Guard Auxiliary National V Department has released the 2008 VE and PV Workshops. The workshops for 2008 are not mandatory but units are encouraged to hold the workshops to better the knowledge of their Vessel Examiners and Program Visitors. The workshops are also available on CD from ANSC as, "V Department 2008 Workshop CD - ANSC 2001A".

- Interpreter Corps 10th Anniversary
The USCG Auxiliary Interpreter Corps was founded in 1997 and now has over 260 qualified linguists and commands 46 foreign languages. Our Interpreters have supported many successful Coast Guard missions from the warn waters of the Caribbean to the bitter cold Siberia. - 2008 Instructor Workshop
The 2008 Instructor Workshop is now available on the E Department Library. The workshop is required for all Instructors for 2008. A qualified Instructor or Member Trainer may implement this Workshop at any level. The length of the Workshop should require 30 - 35 minutes for presentation.

- Auxiliarists On PWCs Assist In Rescue
The day began as one of the spectacular late autumn days in Alaska with sunshine glistening off the snowy mountain peaks, a harbinger of the approaching cold winter months. Four Auxiliarists were engaged in personal watercraft (PWC) operational training. They did not know that their search and rescue (SAR) capabilities and the response time of their PWCs would soon be tested. A downed aircraft and its occupants became the object of their SAR.
